In addition to owning his own business, Carl is committed to his community and active in several area organizations.

In his spare time, he enjoys getting out in nature and is a big fan of hiking and biking. He also enjoys playing hammered dulcimer and mandolin, especially in impromptu jam sessions. He also enjoys counted cross-stitch, and collecting US commemorative mint stamps, elongated pennies, lapel pins and model cars.

Travel is another passion, as Carl has done road trips across all 50 states and some international travel, including Australia and Europe. He has experienced the blessing of participation in mission trips to Nicaragua and Costa Rica.

Carl and his wife, Debbie moved to Hendersonville in 1978. They were blessed with one son, Andrew who lives in Dalton, GA with his wife Sarah and their two pugs.

After working for a bank for five years, and then for another local firm for 6, Kim joined the team at Carl Shaw, CPA in 2010.

Kim is a native of Mills River and a graduate of West Henderson High School. She went on to earn a degree from UNCA, and got her CPA certificate in 2006. In her spare time, she is involved with her church, Emmanuel Baptist. She also likes to spend time on her family’s local farm, where they raise corn and beef cattle.

Andrea Samuels

Andrea received her bachelors and masters degree in accounting from Florida State University. After graduating, she worked with a large public accounting firm (KPMG) and then in the private sector with Lanier Worldwide performing international internal auditing. Prior to moving to the WNC area, she worked with a regional firm in Atlanta performing tax services and also became a licensed CPA in Florida.

Born in Hamburg, Germany, Andrea speaks both German and English. She is married and a mother to three young boys. She enjoys camping, hiking and bike riding as well as gardening, traveling and staying connected with her family in Germany. When time permits, she volunteers time to Boy Scouts, church and the United Way.

Anne Ridings

Anne, a native of Hendersonville, is Carl’s “right hand”. After 16 years at another firm, she started working with Carl. She serves as the office administrator and helps with scheduling, processing client paperwork, maintaining records, and generally anything else required to keep the office running smoothly.

Anne has a love for music. She sings with Asheville Symphony Chorale and has been doing so for 20 years. She is a self-professed musical snob!

In her spare time she enjoys watching Carolina basketball, attending First Presbyterian Church of Hendersonville and spending time with her family.
